Molntjärn - Summer 2012

Along the road to Molntjärn

A wonderful cabin along the road where I wouldn't mind living.
 (At least for a summer)

Finally a sign that directs you to the goal - MOLNTJÄRN

Where you pay the fishing fee.

View of the little lake from where you pay for fishing fee.

Place of the fishing log. Only fly fishing permitted.

A shelter where I usually make my coffee.

View from the shelter.

View from a log I sat on towards the shelter.

Sight to the northeast (the shadow of my hat should be discarded)

The catch of the day (lost two nice brown trout though).
Usually this kind of fish if found in the stomach of big trout.

Two distant eagles "blowing in the wind".
Think they are "Royal Eagles"  related to
the Bald Eagle but the head has a golden color,
hence the name of it "Golden Eagle". A couple of
them hatches just a few kilometers from where
I grew up. Their nest is found in a steep of the
mountain called The Big (Stora) "Bolleberget".
(Should have had binoculars)

A bird couple that have a nest nearby.
Almost my constant companions when fishing here.
In Swedish they are called "Storlom" not sure in English.

Another smaller companion hiding in the late
summer flowers. A pretty big greenish beetle.

Finally a delicious berry (or quite a few here but only one
in this picture). These berries are called "Hjortron" in Swedish
and are very sought for. Something very special for many
living here. I enjoyed munching them. Yummy!!!

Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed to do this trip. Hopefully I can make another trip there before it freezes because right now is the opportunity to get some of the big trout on dry fly. The food is scarce and they readily rises to a small dry fly mostly at dusk.

Have fun fly fishing your waters,
M.O.

The Road To Molntjärn

This is where a small dirt road takes off from the main dirt road and leads to Molntjärn.

I wouldn't advise anyone to enter this small dirt road right now

A closer look at the small dirt road that leads to Molntjärn and other lakes

This road is like a mud trap in the spring. It's not advisable to enter and make a try to drive to Molntjärn this way early in the spring. Many have gotten their cars trapped in the mud attempting to get to Molntjärn too early.

Have fun fly tying or fly fishing (if you are lucky enough to be able to do that now),
M.O.

Yors Truly In Action At Molntjärn

My wife took this photo at a family outing we had a lovely spring day last year.

This is a wonderful place in the middle of nowhere. The animal life is incredible considering it's just a 30 minutes drive from where I currently live in Bollnäs.
